Our Bookshop in

cathedral city

Contemplating inspiration

Our Chichester shop is located in the County Town of the same and with its coveted Blue Plaque, shares a little of the history of this Cathedral City. The area was settled by the Romans in AD 43 and, standing as it does on the foundations of the Romano-British city of Noviomagus Reginorum, was linked to London and Silchester by the Roman road of Stane Street. The Cathedral which now dominates the city has its history dating back to 681 when Saint Wilfred brought Christianity to Sussex and is certainly worth a visit if, for nothing else, to view the superb Marc Chagall stained glass window. But it is not all about history, with its great mix of high street brands and independent retailers, Chichester is a great place to shop.

History of Our Chichester Shop

Acquired in 2010, our Chichester shop proudly displays a blue plaque to the Poet and Cathedral Sexton, Charles Crocker who lived there until his death in October 1861. Spread over three floors, you will need to leave plenty of time for browsing.

Wonderful service with friendly and most helpful staff. Enquiring from Australia, Kim's was the only store in the UK to offer to order in a copy of the book I was searching for. Went the extra mile. Will always recommend Kim's of Chichester in future.

Vincent Bossley

As good as the Arundel branch. Comprehensive range of second hand books. Particularly liked the Observer series shelf. Found the final book of the Evelyn Waugh Sword of Honour trilogy having bought the first two in Arundel yesterday.

There are only two good things in Chichester: Kim's Bookshop and Café Paradiso. Kim's always has a great selection, good prices and friendly staff such a shame that the same can't be said for the rest of the town.

Jack Evans

Just an amazing selection of railway books. A haven.

Peter Russell

Lots of lovely books to lose yourself within this maze of a shop..

Margaret Lyons

An increasingly rare independent second hand bookshop of exceptional quality. I'm only able to visit on theatre trips but I always leave with something.
