for Supporting us for 53 years
Thank you
Due to changing circumstances, we have sadly closed the doors of our Chichester shop. Our Chichester location, nestled in the historic County Town, was a beloved part of our community. With its coveted Blue Plaque, the shop shared a bit of the rich history of this Cathedral City. The area, settled by the Romans in AD 43, stands on the foundations of the Romano-British city of Noviomagus Reginorum and was linked to London and Silchester by the Roman road of Stane Street. The Cathedral, which now dominates the city, has a history dating back to 681 when Saint Wilfred brought Christianity to Sussex. It is certainly worth a visit, if for nothing else, to view the superb Marc Chagall stained glass window. However, Chichester is not all about history. With its great mix of high street brands and independent retailers, it remains a fantastic place to shop.
History of Our Now Closed Chichester Shop
Acquired in 2004, our Chichester shop proudly displays a blue plaque to the Poet and Cathedral Sexton, Charles Crocker who lived there until his death in October 1861. Spread over three floors, you will need to leave plenty of time for browsing.
Although we no longer have a presence in Chichester, we deeply appreciate the support you have given us over the years. We encourage you to visit our Arundel shop, where we continue our mission to buy and sell new, second-hand, and antiquarian books with the same care and dedication. Thank you for being a part of our journey and for supporting us for 45 wonderful years.
